Oregon laws shield the religious from prosecution for the consequences of medical neglect. These laws have brought children’s rights advocate,
Rita Swan, President of CHILD, Inc. to Oregon five times including in 1999 when some changes were enacted. Now, in the aftermath of the high profile cases involving the Followers of Christ, Rita Swan has returned to Oregon and is currently working towards the passing of HB 2721. Every Oregon child has the right to equal protection under the law. Let’s end Oregon’s double standard!

She will be speaking Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:00pm in Loucks Auditorium at Salem’s Main Public Library, 585 Liberty St SE, Salem, OR 97301. Salem is centrally located and easily accessible from Portland, Eugene and the surrounding areas. This is too important an issue for it not to be worth a short drive. Let’s stand together for Oregon children and send a clear message to our legislature.
